Hi there

Looking for advice on getting started up ouselves, myself and a couple others
so far, money not an issue and few of us have quite a bit of equipment,
but any advice on getting started up, or things we might not know we need
or even just advice on running a private investigation would be greatly apreciated

Thanks

Hi. Although I was not part of the founding team of ESP I feel that I may be able to comment on some issues that you may face.

Firstly I think that if you are trying to set up a team then you need the people to be committed. By that I mean people willing to attend meetings, take on responsibilities within the group and put them selves out in order for the group to flourish. It would be easy for somebody just to want to do the "sexy" bit i.e investigations and not put much else into the group.

Identify what it is that you wish to achieve by setting up a group. If it is just because it seems a fun thing to do then that is fine but maybe there is something more than that. For me being a member of ESP was never to try and prove anything. I have my own beliefs and experiences that I have had so do not need any proof. It was more an opportunity to carry out credible investigations with some people who had a similar interest. Also if I wasn't a member of a group then I would not have had a "ghost" of a chance of going to some of the venues that we did in the middle of the night.

Speaking of venues then that was one of the main difficulties. It was surprising to me just how difficult it was to try and get places that would allow or want an investigation at their premises. I know from first hand experience the amount of phone calls, e mails, visits that it can take to try and get an investigation set up. Be prepared for rejections.

It is important to have a plan for your investigation. I suppose it depends on how many persons are taking part. If there is just two or three of you then it might not be too much of an issue but if there are a number of you and you split up into small groups then you certainly don't want to have cross interference or to be bumping in to each other. Rachael always produced fantastic plans for investigations that we undertook. Of course that meant that a bit of work had to be undertaken before any investigation took place.

I believe that you have done some investigations in a number of places already. If that is the case and with credible groups then I am sure you will have experienced some where absolutely nothing has happened. It is definately not like some of the TV programmes going about which have definitely went down in my estimation. I am sure you can guess which ones. In fact I would say that most of the experiences only come to light when reviewing the footage from the investigation. Oh by the way the reviewing is a very laborious and time consuming task but one which needs to be done.

Anyway there is more that I coud write but that's probably enough for now. If Rachael responds I would take very seriously what she has to say as she has put in a tremendous amount of work in this group.

Davie

Thank you very very much for all your advice it is greatly apreciated
We are a long long way of getting up and running, at the moment we have plans
and ideas that is it so far, why do we or I want to do it, well because i have a pasion for it
i know it's just a hobby but i am willing to put the time and effort into it as it's something i love
As i said money isn't an issue to an extent, but i agree we need people who are gonna be commited
I want to take in all the advice and ideas i can before we set our plan into action for getting up and running
and believe me i know it's not like these tv programmes, i won't name any but i ave my thoughts on them and they aren't
usually good, lol, let's leave it at that.
Anyway thanks again for your advice and if anyone else has anything to add please feel free, no matter how small a detail it will all be apreciated

thanks

J
